The Lakota Board of Education invites parents, staff and community members to attend a Community Conversation that will help the District begin to review and possibly reshape its current cell phone usage policy (po5136 Personal Communication Devices). This also includes a review of the corresponding administrative guidelines (ag5136 Personal Communication Devices) and rule 13 of the Student Code of Conduct, which further defines student cell phone usage.
The review is in response to the directive from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce to establish such a policy. While Lakota's current policy fulfills the state requirement, the District is using the latest guidance as an opportunity to review and refresh the policy after hearing input from the community.
The Community Conversation, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Lakota West Freshman School Innovation Hub, will challenge attendees to review and reflect upon different school and classroom scenarios that might impact the details of the updated policy. RSVP for the Community Conversation to help us plan.
Participate in a ThoughtExchange prior to the conversation. The exchange is open through Sept. 20 at 5 p.m.
